Kulturhuset Barbacka, which is a municipal cultural center focused on children and youth, is seeking a part-time (80%) temporary theater pedagogue. This is because one of the permanent educators will be on parental leave.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Kulturhuset Barbacka offers theater training for children and youth aged 8 to 20 during their free time. The theater activities consist of both courses that require registration and free drop-in theater on Saturdays and during school breaks. The theater training includes improvisation, play, script work, theater exercises, and play creation. Participation and co-creation are important elements.

As a theater pedagogue, you will lead your theater groups independently but will be part of a team with other educators/leaders. You will also work together with younger so-called support leaders who have been trained by performing theater at Barbacka. The position includes regular evening and weekend work.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who can uplift and inspire and create meaningful theater together with children and youth. You are creative and can adapt your teaching based on what happens in the moment and can meet the children/youth where they are.

You have a university degree in theater/drama or another education in the same field that the employer considers equivalent. We want you to have work experience in theater or drama pedagogical work focused on children and youth. Experience in working with the entire process, from idea to performance, is a requirement, as is experience in independently leading theater groups of various ages. If you have experience with participatory processes with children and youth, it is an advantage. It is also beneficial if you have experience with drop-in theater/drama.

Of course, you have a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish, where communication and interaction with children and youth are in focus. You need to have basic computer skills in an Office environment.

We want you to have the ability to work with other people, which means you are unpretentious, good at listening, and showing empathy and respect. The ability to plan and organize your work is required in the role. In other words, you find it easy to set goals, organize resources, follow up, and complete activities.

When you are offered employment, a police clearance certificate must be presented before employment according to the provisions of the law (2013:852) on background checks for work that involves direct and regular contact with children.

The Culture and Leisure Administration is responsible for the municipality's investments in areas such as libraries, swimming and sports facilities, Kristianstad Theater, Kulturhuset Barbacka, Kulturkvarteret, youth centers, and association grants. We work across a broad field and currently have about 100 employees within the operations.
